It's been hot in Tennessee, but that doesn't mean your bed can't start feeling like fall!
We just brought in a big round of new merchandise - our team has even been pulling extra hours just to keep up with everything coming through the stockroom! That means we've got plenty of new colors, patterns, textures, and styles to work with right now!
We're told all the time that we have some of the best bedding in Tennessee, so we thought we'd show you how we'd put some of our merchandise to use with a simple formula for layering a bed for fall.
Start with Your Base
Everything starts with the sheets. For fall, look for something with a little more weight or texture than you might use in the summer. Flannel, brushed cotton, and linen blends are all great options.
Bring In Some Color
Next comes your duvet or comforter - this is where we usually like to bring in some color or pattern. A deeper tone or subtle print gives you something to build around without making the entire bed feel too busy.
If your duvet has a pattern, keep some of the other layers simple. And if it's a solid, then you'll have a great opportunity to add pattern as we continue.
Add a Quilt or Coverlet
Fold a quilt or coverlet across the foot of the bed, about a third of the way up.
It's a small detail, but it makes the whole bed look more finished without being too styled. It's also an easy place to bring in another texture or pattern that contrasts with your duvet.
Don't Forget the Pillows
When it comes to pillows, always work from big to small by starting with your larger pillows in the back, and layering in smaller pillows and a couple of decorative pieces as you progress forward.
Don't be afraid to mix a pattern with a solid. You want the pillows to look like a collection rather than all be perfectly matched.
As an example, our Carsyn Long Bolster Pillow, a floral print in soft pink and sage with a ruffled edge, would look beautiful paired with the Marielle Long Bolster Pillow, a solid olive green velvet with fringe trim. The colors work great together without looking like they came as a set.
Finish with a Throw
The last layer is the throw. Drape it across one corner of the bed or casually across the foot rather than laying it perfectly flat.
Our Chance Steel Blue Super Throw is a chunky knit in a rich steel blue, while the Boll & Branch throw is a textured waffle knit in soft taupe. Either one works, depending on whether you want your throw to bring in a little color or finish the bed with a neutral texture.
Make It Your Own
Once you've got the basic layers in place, you can really have fun with the pieces you choose! You don't have to change everything for fall. Sometimes a new quilt, a couple of pillows, or a cozy throw is all it takes to give your bedroom a completely different feel for the season.
